Welcome to The Cooking Rooms

The Cooking Rooms is a cookery school in York offering a range of food and drink experiences for all ages and abilities to the people of Yorkshire and beyond. We run cookery classes that will appeal to absolute beginners as well as lessons for enthusiastic amateurs looking to develop their skills in the kitchen.

The Cooking Rooms is part of The Change Foundation (charity no. 1139413 www.thechangefoundation.co.uk) an organisation dedicated to the advancement of education and training for public benefit. As a cookery school our mission is to enhance quality in health and nutrition through experiential learning, courses and awareness events. We partner with focus and support groups involved in the sector and hold physical and spiritual well being central to our values. All profit from commercial activity is directed to the promotion of these charitable aims.

The Cooking Rooms is a social enterprise. Our aim is to provide opportunities to learn about healthy cooking and eating and opportunities for social interaction to groups in the community who wouldn’t ordinarily have access to the cookery school experience. We reinvest all our profits into providing cookery based activities for adults and children in the York area who will benefit most from them.

Our purpose-built premises combine a teaching kitchen equipped with state of the art appliances with a flexible space we use for demonstrations, tastings, parties and classes for younger children. The Cooking Rooms is available for for corporate and private events, team building and parties for all ages. These activities help fund community courses and training we offer. All surplus income from commercial activity is directed to the furthering of the work of The Change Foundation in health and well being.

We work with a panel of experienced, local chefs and instructors who are enthusiastic about food and love nothing more than to share their knowledge and expertise.

The Cooking Rooms is a member of the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Food Group and wherever possible we use ingredients sourced locally in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
